John delivers what he promises! Great guide, knowledgeable, efficient and has many local connections at both points of interest and with special restaurants; a definite plus.
Toured Salzburg and Castle Tour and packed in a great deal in a short stay. John even managed to avoid traffic delays by knowing alternate routes. The hotel John suggested was top notch with great service and within a SHORT walking distance to Munich highlights.
Very pleased John!
What a wonderful experience!
John met me in the hotel lobby and from that point on for the next 10 or so hours he took a personal interest into seeing that I was thoroughly pleased with my Bavarian tour of Ludwig II castles.
John took no time at all getting entrance tickets for the castles while others waited, stood by me in line to ensure I was attended to, and pretty much paved the way for very nice tours by speaking personally with the tour guides at each location. He is exceptionally knowledgeable of the history of each location and shares that knowledge with you so you are prepared for what is to come. On the way to the Linderhof we stopped at a very nice hotel/restaurant for a wonderful lunch in Austria.
I trusted John's recommendations without question and had a great meal and beautiful beer.
John also made a few stops during the trip to allow me the opportunity to take pictures at several locations as I am into photography and also shared his artistic views on the best angles and shots to take.
We did not rush, the day was nicely paced so I could enjoy the trip without having to run about from one place to the next and was a truly relaxing experience. At the end of the day John didn't just drop me off at the hotel, he walked me into the hotel lobby and thanked me.
I had a wonderful day with John and look forward to the next tour I take with him in the future!
Another great time with John
My wife and I wanted to see Eagles Nest and we wanted a personal tour with a knowledgeable guide that would take us there. I had toured with John a few years ago so there was no question that he was our man. He met us at our hotel, we had a pleasant drive to Austria, including lots of interesting conversation, and back into Germany to Eagles Nest.
He made the visit a wonderful one, getting tickets before anyone else and directing us opposite the flow of the many other tourists. He stuck with us every minute of the way. We learned a lot from him and we did so in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Possibly the best part of the trip was lunch.
We drove to Berchtesgaden but didn't go into the center of the town as there was a festival there that day that held no interest for us. So off we went to an incredibly beautiful setting on a little lake at the edge of town. We sat on a small deck on the lake and watched the lovely old wooden boats cruise the tranquil waters. The boats are powered by electric motors so they created no sound. John knew the folks that owned the restaurant and helped us out from all angles.
We then took our time in getting back to Munich in the early evening. John is an artist and it shows. He knows the places that show off his beloved Bavaria in the best light and he is a master at timing as well.
The crazy thing is that this Bavarian is an American, having transplanted himself many years ago. Once back at the hotel he saw us in the door and we visited a bit before he went on his way.
We will surely seek out John the next time we go, there is absolutely no question about that.
A wonderful personalized tour
John provided a wonderful day out to the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.
The tour was tailored to my wishes, and I was able to see and do everything I wanted. His local knowledge and historical references rounded out the trip, and it was fascinating to hear about the region, and the monarchs that ruled.
I took a second tour with John, visiting the Christmas Markets, and exploring the city of Munich. It was a side to Munich that I would have otherwise missed, and I'm grateful for the time spent.
I would highly recommend any of John's tours for anyone looking for a wonderful day out and done with a personal touch.
A Day Well Spent
John took myself and family on a one-day tour of Neuschwanstein, Oberammergau and Linderhof Palace.
Due to physical limitations, we could not handle the steps at Neuschwanstein, but John made sure we had a full opportunity to view (and take photos of) the castle from below.
We had an open schedule which John filled completely and efficiently, including unexpected but interesting stops. He gave us a continuous narrative of the local history and background to the sights we visited. The day went longer than expected, but John cut nothing short. Also, his new VW van was great for our group.
We look forward to spending more time with John on our next visit to Bavaria.

Personal service and excellent sightseeing of both the well known and hidden gems!
John was a great ambassador to tour Munich and the surrounding area as well! He is fluent in German and that was a great asset to us as we do not speak the language. He knew the area like the back of his hand and was able to recommend some great local restaurants that were just delicious! The local wheat beer and apple dessert at one place were incredible!
He also took into account my handicap as I am currently walking with a cane and was able to get us close to the areas we visited to reduce my walking distance especially on the hills. He is also a very personable guy who is a lot of fun to talk to. The tour van was very clean and comfortable.
My wife and I would highly recommend John for your tour of the area!
