31. High Alpine Tour of Bavaria

View from the Bavarian Alps, Walchensee

We will depart your Munich Hotel no later than 7:30AM.
The drive will take you first through the city of Munich followed by a short ride on the Autobahn before we enter the rolling Alpine foothills.
We next drive through several small villages by mirror-like lakes along narrow, serpentine mountain roads to a parking lot located deep in the Alps, at the foot of the mountain.
Here we will take a modern lift elevating us almost 1600 meters, some 4,800-feet, above sea level. From this point you may make an easy walk to the Berggasthaus Restaurant at 1575 meters.

View breath-taking scenery and scintillatingly bright panoramas while breathing the crystalline, pure Alpine air, air so thin you feel giddy and ethereal, in a sacred world, far away from reality and life's stress. Is that not why you are on vacation? So many people have requested this kind of a tour that I have made it a mainstay of our offer, and I personally take extreme pleasure in joining my guests on the "Roof-Top of Europe".  And you have a choice - you may either take a gentle walk or a more vigorous hike when you opt for this High Alpine Special.

John at the Top - Herzogstand

For those who are in good condition, are wearing sturdy, proper footgear and have normal walking abilities it will be possible to walk up a rough- but- not-difficult path to the Herzogstandgipfel (mountain top pavilion) 1734 meters, 5,300 feet  above sea level).
After this day in the High Alpine region of Europe you will take a comfortable lift back down to base of the mountain. I will then bring your back to your hotel in the city of Munich.

*For this walk your shoes should have hard rubber soles with some ankle support as the paths are unpaved, and broken rock, larger stones and even mud maybe present.

Should you wish an professional licensed mountain climbing guide, please let me know in advance. Thank you!
