Amazing Private Tour
Excellent day from beginning to end. John was punctual, dressed professionally, and very courteous.
His story-telling ability and experience in the area is almost as good as visiting the sites. He cared for us from beginning to end including getting our castle tickets in advance. After the castle, he joined us for a delightful meal at a place managed by royals--very good food. Great setting.
On the way back to Munich, we stopped at an old church that has an interior that rivals anything you see in Europe. We will be with him again the next time we're in the area.

HIGHLY recommend. Very affordable

Five days with John--through Bavaria and Salzburg
John Wetstone provided an outstanding series of tours for my 3 sons and myself. His knowledge of Bavaria, its culture and King Ludwig II in particular was superb. He is adept at arranging tickets, lunch, afternoon pastries such that there was minimal waiting, Each day was a full day--at a resonable pace.
Our tours included Salzburg, several of Ludwig's castles, Zugspitz , Oberammagau, and Dachau. All of the meals were at superb restaurants.
He knows his stuff!!! Was always on time and a safe driver.

No Brainer -- go with John
If you are traveling to Bavaria, John is the guide to have. He knows what to do, where to go and when to go. His expertise in logistics, as well as the history of the area/attractions is invaluable.
During our excursions, we saw not only the famous "tourist attractions", but John took us to see off the beaten path places that we would never have known without his guidance---very cool stuff.

Money was well spent for a vacation of a lifetime! Thanks John!

The Only Way to See Bavaria
Spent 6 days with John traveling through Bavaria. It was an absolute delight more like traveling with a treasured knowledgeable friend than a tour guide. He always seemed to be able to get to the front of line and seemed to know everyone in Bavaria.
It was a pleasure from the first email contact and John was very helpful in selecting what to see in Bavaria.

The actual tour exceeded my expectations and I would have no hesitation in using John's services again

Castle Tour
Wetstone provided us with the most perfect King Ludwig II's castle tour. He was very knowledgeable as well as friendly. In addition to the tour he took us to a hotel nestled in the Bavarian Alps where we had a delicious lunch.
I highly recommend this tour.

Knowledgeable, efficient, and eager to please his guests
We hired John for two days and opted for the King Ludwig Tour and the Eagle's Nest/Satzburg Tour. He was very personable and eager to make sure we had a good time on our tours.
It was also great to have a guide that could give us some background history regarding the sights we saw. John also knew most of the tour guides for each site and was able to make sure we got into each site efficiently with minimal waiting. It was also to our advantage to have a guide who was familiar with excellent local restaurants.
While in Salzburg, John was able to help us find an antique store where we could buy an antique key for one of my husband's friends. Without his insider knowledge, this probably wouldn't have been possible.

Overall, we had an wonderful experience and would recommend John's services to anyone thinking of visiting Bavaria in the future.

Catching up with an old friend in Bavaria
Wetstone provided us with the most perfect King Ludwig II's castle tour. He was very knowledgeable as well as on our third trip to Germany in May this year we travelled with a group of friends who had not previously been to Europe. To ensure that they got the most out of their Bavarian experience I contacted John Wetstone, who we had booked on previous trips (see past posts), to provide a tour that included the Eagles Nest and Salzburg.

John has always provided us with a warm, relaxed and personal service, and this trip was no different. Picked up from our hotel in a private van (that seated the six of us comfortably), we travelled to the Eagles Nest as our first stop. John has many friends in the area, and this coupled with his expert knowledge of the sights and roads mean that our passage was unhindered an comfortable throughout. His knowledge of history added to the journey as my friends questioned him about every aspect of Bavaria and its culture.
Moving to Salzburg, we meandered through the beautiful streets before dining in style at the oldest restaurant in Europe.

I have always, and continue, to recommend John and his tour company as a professional organisation that offers a more personal tourist experience. I also consider that over time we have developed a friendship as a result of our tours with John, and that when we visit Bavaria we are catching up with an old friend rather than booking a tour.
For me, this adds significant value to my travel.

Having John as our guide for our trip to Germany was perfect for our itinerary
John was most helpful planning our trip and it turned out to be a very enjoyable one. John picked us up at hour hotel for three days, getting us to all the desired places we wanted to see. It made our trip so easy to be picked up at our hotel each day without the hastle of driving or taking busses to places.
John was a knowledgeable guide wherever we went. He knew his history of the castles, Eagles Nest, Dachau, ect.

We would not hesitate to use Johns Bavarian Tours again. Our trip was a total sucess.

Enjoyed our time with John
We spent three days travelling with John last September and had a very nice experience. We did the Pfaffenwinkel tour, Salzburg / Eagles Nest, and the King Ludwig Castles tour. We'd repeat every one. John was always on time, his van was comfortable, and what makes-or-breaks it for us on private tours
is he was interesting to talk to.
His connections and little "extras" were great. For example, at one of Ludwig's castles (and John is VERY knowledgeable on Ludwig) a fountain wasn't running and only came on at certain times. John went up to a museum staff member he knew, had a short conversation, and before you know it the fountain was running and we got some great photos. On another occasion, at the Eagles Nest tour, he helped us enter/exit to beat the big rush of the crowd, allowing us a little more time. And when we described a type of souvenir we were looking for, he was able to locate a shop in Obergamau(which was a charming little town) that had exactly what we were looking for.
His lunch suggestions were all terrific. We're not foodies and generally don't remember or care too much about restaurants while travelling, but the places were all charming and unique with excellent food. Unless you're in a big hurry (we enjoyed the break in the day) I'd definitely trust his lunch suggestions.

All in all, a great way to see Bavaria.

Dear John,
Our time spent with you was the best. We all agree that our tours were wonderful. It made the trips so easy and interesting. Loved the luncheons.
We arrived home at our house about 9:30pm on Saturday. We had delays in Holland at the airport and again after arriving in the USA. All in all, it was a great trip.

Excellent tour guide,we loved our tours
We were in town from October 23 to 30 and took three tours with John. We took the Ludwig Castle Tours, Salzburg/Eagles nest and Schleissheim Palace and Airfield tours.
John was at our hotel in Munich every morning a few minutes before our appointed time. He knew Munich and Austria like the back of his hand and did his very best to make our tours the best they could be.
We loved his insights on the attractions, and my wife and I both feel we saw and experienced a great deal of things that without John we simply wouldn't have experienced

Excellent Tours-Highlight of our trip to Munich
We had the pleasure of spending 2 days with John. Our first day was a tour of King Ludwigs Castle. John's historical knowledge certainly enhanced our visit and the added side trip to Austria for a lovely lunch was a much enjoyed surprise.
Our second day was a half day tour which included some local sights and gave insight to the history and beauty of Munich. We totally enjoyed our time with John in Munich and would highly recommend his tours.
